Tritax Big Box, Biggleswade

VolkerFitzpatrick is principal contractor for this significant new industrial development in Biggleswade, commissioned by Tritax Big Box Developments.

The project will see the delivery of over 827,000 square feet of high-quality industrial and office space across five new units, reinforcing the region’s position as a key logistics and distribution hub. 

It is targeting a BREEAM Outstanding rating and an EPC of A+, This aligns with both Tritax Big Box and VolkerFitzpatrick’s commitment to delivering future-ready, energy-efficient developments that support the UK’s net-zero ambitions. 

Located at Symmetry Park, Biggleswade, Central Bedfordshire, the development will comprise the design and construction of five state-of-the-art industrial units ranging in size from 65,847 to 287,200 square feet. Each unit will include integrated Grade A office space, with the overall scheme supported by extensive external works including service yards, car parking, drainage, landscaping, and incoming services. 

Delivering Social Value in Biggleswade 
VolkerFitzpatrick is committed to engaging with the local community and minimising its environmental impact. This includes working with local supply chain contractors and providing local employment opportunities including placements, apprenticeships and community outreach over the course of the scheme. Initiatives have included support for the Biggleswade Food Bank, fundraising for local charities, and volunteering at the Herald Resource Centre—run by local learning disability charity Hft—where team members including  project partners, carried out garden tidy-up work to help transform the space into a usable and welcoming area for the people supported by the charity.
