King Charles III officially opened the landmark development on 18th February. Spanning 567,000 sq ft across a 21.5 acre site, the studios feature 12 purpose built sound stages, a 3 acre backlot, and extensive production, workshop and office space. During his tour, the King entertained students from Dagenham and Redbridge College, by calling “Action!” after being handed a clapperboard at the studios.

He was also shown cutting‑edge virtual production facilities and students demonstrated immersive LED‑wall filmmaking techniques.

The visit marks another proud milestone for VolkerFitzpatrick, whose delivery of Eastbrook Studios has transformed a previously disused site into a world class, BREEAM Excellent rated production campus that will support the UK’s fast growing creative industries.

Earlier in the day, the King, joined by Queen Camilla, visited Barking & Dagenham College with alumnus Sir Idris Elba. This recognition reflected the strong creative pathways emerging across the borough, supported in part by Eastbrook Studios’ industry‑ready facilities and technical infrastructure.
