Early careers colleagues attend parliamentary reception on airport expansion opportunities
VolkerFitzpatrick's Managing Director, James Hindes, was joined by a group of apprentices and graduates, alongside Early Careers Manager Jayne Youell, at the Get Ready: Airport Growth, Economic Growth, Jobs and Opportunities event.
Hosted by Luton Rising in collaboration with the East of England All Party Parliamentary Group, the reception brought together parliamentarians and industry representatives to mark one year since approval of the airport’s expansion plans.
Representing VolkerFitzpatrick, early careers colleagues William Gerrard, Mateusz Powazka, Robyn Warman, Tom Southall and Stavros Mouzourides engaged with attendees to share their experiences of apprenticeships and career progression within the construction and infrastructure sector. The team also spoke with young people about future career pathways, helping to highlight the opportunities available within the industry.
The event featured a range of speakers who emphasised the importance of continued investment in the region, alongside the positive impact that major infrastructure projects can have on local communities, employment and economic growth.
A standout outcome from the event saw Mateusz Powazka invited to speak with a local youth group and explore work experience opportunities, further strengthening VolkerFitzpatrick’s commitment to supporting the next generation.
The reception provided a valuable platform to showcase the role of early careers in shaping the future workforce and underlined the contribution the construction industry makes in driving growth, skills and opportunity across the UK.
