University of Roehampton Harvey Building
VolkerFitzpatrick completed the redevelopment of a former university library building (named the Harvey building) into flexible teaching space at the University of Roehampton, for the Department of Media, Culture and Language.
- Two-stage design and build project
- New facilities cover 43,000 ft2 on three floors
- 147 individual rooms providing TV, film, photography and sound production studios, editing suites and a 90-seat cinema/lecture space
- Courtyard was covered with a new glazed roof supported on bespoke laminated ply beams creating a new exhibition and social space
- Full Cat A and B fit out
- Required careful logistics planning with the live university and continuous liaison during construction
- Negotiated the subsequent phase of works for the £4.3m Sir David Bell Media Centre due to the excellent relationship developed with our positive, collaborative approach
