Marsh Farm Community and Enterprise Resource Centre
VolkerFitzpatrick design and built a new Community and Enterprise Resource Centre (CERC) in Luton for the Marsh Farm Community Development Trust.
The project
- Design and build contract for a new CERC in Marsh Farm, officially classified as ‘a deprived area’ of Luton
- Demolition of existing factory building Offices for Luton Borough Council and business start-up units
- Children’s indoor play area and PCT healthcare facilities
- Existing community centre remained in occupation during construction
- Completed in two phases to allow client decanting
Community benefits
- 25 percent of workforce from local Marsh Farm estate
- 50 percent of workforce from Luton/Bedfordshire area
- 50 percent of contract value placed with local firms
- Eight trainee placements on the project
