M27 Junction 10 Improvement Scheme

VolkerFitzpatrick on behalf of Hampshire County Council, has been contracted to upgrade the M27 J10. This project is designed to support the Welborne Garden Village development north of Fareham with the creation of 6,000 new homes, community amenities, and job opportunities in the region.

The improvement scheme, scheduled for completion in late 2026, will see VolkerFitzpatrick adding a new underpass and three new slip roads to create an "all-moves" motorway junction, significantly enhancing connectivity in the area, working closely with Hampshire County Council and National Highways.

The scheme will also see the construction of a new dual carriageway link between the upgraded motorway junction, the Welborne development and the existing local road network.

Over the 2025 Christmas period, the pre-constructed underpass structure was slid in to place, 24 hours ahead of schedule.

The works involved sliding the 8,500-tonne, four-lane-wide concrete structure—the length of six double-decker buses under the motorway. This approach, completed in less than 20 hours, replaced months of potential lane closures and speed restrictions, minimising disruption for road users.
