Leatherhead Leisure Centre

VolkerFitzpatrick built the Leatherhead Leisure Centre in Surrey as part of the IESE Framework (formerly SECE),for Mole Valley District Council. The design and build contract began in March 2008.

The works were carried out over four phases, helping to keep the centre operational at all times. The project involved new ground and first floor extensions to the front of the building, providing a new gym, soft play crèche, beauty treatment, changing rooms, café and reception.

The remainder of the centre was refurbished, including the provision of two conference suites, a sports hall, kitchen, wet and dry changing rooms and three swimming pools.

Services included comfort cooling and environmental features including rainwater harvesting and a CHP system.

The project involved a lengthy preconstruction period, where VolkerFitzpatrick worked as integrated team members to develop the design and test various design options.

Throughout the lifetime of the project we continued to work closely with the centre operators, Fusion, and their centre managers. In particular, in drawing up the phasing programme and the measures required to keep the centre operational.
