VolkerFitzpatrick Successfully Completes National Highways Framework with Final Two Schemes

VolkerFitzpatrick has successfully completed its Lifecycle Extension Works to prolong the life of concrete road surfaces by up to five years, as part of the Concrete Roads Framework with National Highways, delivering the final two schemes on the A120 and A180 ahead of schedule and with exceptional results.

National Highways

Since 2020, VolkerFitzpatrick has played a key role in prolonging the life of the UK’s strategic road network, carrying out vital concrete repair works across four major schemes. The latest projects, the A120 Crown Interchange to Little Bentley Roundabout  and the A180 Grimsby, mark the conclusion of this successful framework.

Despite challenging winter conditions, both schemes were delivered efficiently, achieving key milestones without major disruption to road users. Over 350 concrete bays were replaced during night-time closures, ensuring minimal impact on daytime traffic. Careful planning and execution meant both projects were completed ahead of programme, with no major injuries and strong financial performance. National Highways provided positive feedback on the team’s ability to minimise disruption while delivering high-quality work.

Having worked on the LEW framework for five years, VolkerFitzpatrick has demonstrated consistent success, delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest safety standards. Previous schemes include the A12 Junction 15–19 and the A46 Sixhills to Winderpool, further cementing the company’s expertise in infrastructure renewal.

Completing the A120 and A180 projects ahead of schedule and without major incidents is a fantastic achievement, especially given the seasonal challenges. This success is a testament to the hard work, collaboration, and dedication of the entire team. We are proud to have played a role in improving the longevity of the UK’s road network and strengthening our partnership with National Highways.

As the framework comes to a close, VolkerFitzpatrick is proud of its achievements and looks forward to continuing its partnership with National Highways on future projects.
