Talented young engineer named ‘most promising’ at industry association awards
Congratulations to VolkerFitzpatrick section engineer, Ieuan Jones who has won the CECA Southern ‘Most Promising Trainee Civil Engineer’ award 2015 at the CECA annual awards dinner in London yesterday.
CECA (The Civil Engineering Contractors Association) are the representative body for companies who deliver, upgrade, and maintain the country's infrastructure. The awards recognise professional advancement and potential with Ieuan deservedly winning due to his dedication to his role and continued learning which has seen him gain Engineering Technician status with ICE (Institute of Civil Engineers).
Ieuan began working for VolkerFitzpatrick in 2009 whilst completing a one year industrial training placement as part of his Masters Degree in Civil Engineering. Following the completion of his studies Ieuan went on to work at the Thameslink depot site in Hornsey where he is part of the team delivering the maintenance care depot for Siemens.
Speaking about why he nominated Ieuan, VolkerFitzpatrick’s Hornsey depot project director, David Mutter said: “I had no hesitation in nominating Ieuan for this award. I have had the privilege of witnessing Ieuan’s development and progression on the project into a very mature and valued member of the team, with respect being earned not only from his own team and work colleagues but also from the project’s wider stakeholder community.
“This award is testament to Ieuan’s passion for engineering and his engaging approach to learning, never turning down an opportunity to take on board new responsibilities and challenges.”
Ieuan was presented with his award and prize at the prestigious CECA Southern annual dinner held in the Lancaster London Hotel last night (4 November).
