Align JV, shortlisted for enabling works, nominates HS2 director

Align, a joint venture of Bouygues Travaux Publics, Sir Robert McAlpine, and VolkerFitzpatrick, recently shortlisted for the HS2 enabling works packages, has this week announced the nomination of HS2 Director Jérôme Furgé, of Bouygues Travaux Publics.

Jérôme joins Align from France where his outstanding rail delivery record was crowned by the excellent achievements on the Nimes-Montpellier Bypass HSR project (CNM) in the South of France. CNM is one of the most recent High-Speed Rail project currently being built in the world.

With 21 years of international experience at Bouygues TP in major transport infrastructure including road, rail and tunnels, Jérôme arrives with a highly commendable range of skills in leadership and project management, added to his instrumental role in setting up and running a number of successful joint ventures for Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP).

A strong believer in collaborative behaviours and inclusivity, Jérôme has worked in many different cultural environments, from Ireland, Egypt and Hungary to Hong Kong and Singapore. He is excited about moving to the UK, and taking up this new challenge on a permanent basis, along with his family.

About his new role at Align and his vision for High Speed 2, Jérôme says “I am delighted to have the opportunity to bring the world’s most up-to-date High Speed Rail technology and project methodology to the UK. At Align, we are hopeful we can share our world-class best practice with HS2, and help the government leave a long-lasting, reliable and resilient legacy to the British people, for many generations”.

For the last 5 years, Jérôme Furgé has held the position of Engineering Department Director at Bouygues TP where his team was also responsible for managing and developing innovative solutions for cost-effective tenders in major projects. His multi-disciplinary team covered the major infrastructure disciplines dedicated to railway, road, and energy projects

Jérôme will be working from the London-based offices of Align, and firmly intends for Align to engage with the UK supply chain, as they follow the relevant HS2 guidelines. To this end, he and his Align colleagues will be attending CECA the HS2 Buyers’ Day in Birmingham early February.
