With many of our construction professionals starting their careers from an apprenticeship, we understand the value of investing in our future workforce and have a number of apprentice opportunities within our structure.
As well as working on some of the country’s biggest construction projects, our apprentices work alongside experienced staff to gain construction specific skills as well as receiving training towards a nationally recognised qualification; through a formal college programme; with classroom-based learning.
Through apprenticeship opportunities, we continue to develop relationships with external bodies, such as Construction Skills, colleges and training providers to establish strong foundations for our apprenticeship frameworks.
VolkerFitzpatrick provides placements, schools liaison and work experience opportunities in many of our local and project communities.
We have an excellent relationship with Job Centre Plus and have collaborated with them and other community organisations in assisting to recruit, organise jobs fairs and career events and customise workshops and site tours to engage with the local community. We also run programmes for unemployed adults, which includes pre-employment training, career assistance, work experience and commissioned training.
We have great partnerships with a number of universities within the UK and offer a number of undergraduate opportunities to individuals with the right experience and academic profiles as well as the interest, enthusiasm, initiative and ambition to grow and contribute to our amazing business.
Our ITP schemes are accredited by the ICE, RICS and CICES and we have opportunities in industrial placement schemes, for students undertaking accredited MEng and BEng civil engineering and BSc quantity surveying and construction commercial management degree courses.
Students demonstrating exceptional performance during placement may be awarded a bursary for their final university year, and the opportunity to return to VolkerFitzpatrick on the relevant graduate scheme.
