Volunteers from Brent Cross West station return to GROW farm

Recent

The VolkerFitzpatrick and Mace Brent Cross West station team recently revisited local charity GROW’s farm and outdoor learning hub to help with planting and landscaping.

The community-focused GROW farm is enthusiastic about educating young people about healthy food and sustainable farming methods. In particular, it supports the neighbouring Totteridge academy.

Thanks to fundraising efforts earlier in the year, the VolkerFitzpatrick team purchased a range of materials and plants to help support the charity. Over two days, the team contributed an additional 70 hours to the farm, and was involved with a range of activities including planting and landscaping. The generous team behind the charity also provided the volunteers with a vegan lunch made with produce from the farm.

Injesh Khadka, social value adviser at VolkerFitzpatrick, said: “The team did an amazing job fundraising earlier in the year and it’s great to return and put those funds into action. We’re proud to support this practical and inspiring resource for young people in the area.”

Sarah Jones, farm manager at GROW, said, “We had a wonderful two days preparing and planting our pollinator garden with VolkerFitzpatrick and Mace staff this autumn. With the companies support, we were able to create a new area on the farm, to help support bees and wild pollinators, and grow more cut flowers and herbs. The space will also be used for teaching our local students and trainees about natural ecosystems and the vital role pollinators play in healthy ecosystems, Thanks so much to all the Brent Cross West team for your support and hard work in the rain!”
