VolkerFitzpatrick designs and builds new Royal Mail delivery office in central London, with capacity for over 100 postal routes

  • Design and build contract for the demolition, base build and fit out of a two-storey, 55,000ft2 Royal Mail delivery centre, with offices, welfare facilities and canteen
  • Three-storey, steel-frame car park with removable top deck and attached vehicle servicing centre
  • New delivery office includes a blast-proof mail opening unit
  • Steel portal frame structure sits on 600mm diameter CFA piles, with an in-situ reinforced concrete pad, strip and pile cap foundation system
  • Envelope is a combination of Kingspan cladding, brickwork and Trespa panelling
  • The heavily constrained site required 20 party wall agreements
  • BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ (exceeding target of ‘Very Good’)
