Latimer Road & Shepherds Bush platform modifications

VolkerFitzpatrick was employed to undertake platform modernisation works at Latimer Road underground station and Shepherds Bush Market station as part of London Underground’s seven-Car ‘S’ stock platform rebuild works.

Passenger numbers have grown significantly over the last few years. To keep up with this growing demand, London Underground continues to invest in the network with a programme of planned improvements to accommodate up to seven car long trains. This will increase capacity and reducing crowding. Part of this work included remodelling station platforms to improve accessibility and reduce queuing.

The works involved at Latimer Road and Shepherds Bush Market stations included the design and construction of replacement westbound and eastbound platforms. Extensions to the northern ends of these platforms to accommodate seven car long trains were also completed.

Works were carried out during the day under blockade or behind platform hoarding and with pre-booked possession and protection arrangements in place.
