The Next Generation Estate Contracts (NGEC) programme will see VolkerFitzpatrick bid for design and build projects up to £12m in value across the MOD in the South East and South West of the country.

The works are expected to support the MOD’s Army Basing and Future Reserves 2020 programmes and will include the majority of UK Defence construction projects under £50m.

David Sershall, managing director of VolkerFitzpatrick’s building division said: “We are delighted to be part of this prestigious framework that will help the MOD fulfil its priorities and deliver quality facilities for our servicing personnel.

“VolkerFitzpatrick and the wider VolkerWessels UK group have a successful and proven track record in the delivery of complex infrastructure projects for the armed forces. We have maintained a successful relationship with the United States Air Force (USAF) whilst undertaking a number of complex projects as part of the USAF framework at sites across the UK since 2009. Our sister company, VolkerStevin is also currently undertaking the refurbishment of the jetty at Her Majesty’s Naval Base Portsmouth in preparation for the new Queen Elizabeth Class Carriers arriving in 2019.”

John Jones, NGEC Capital Works Frameworks project manager, said: “The award of these frameworks continues the work to provide a consistent procurement process across the Defence estate that meets the requirements of the Government Construction Strategy and which will bring about efficiencies in terms of cost, design and project delivery.”

Works on the frameworks are expected to last for an initial four years with the option to extend by up to three further years.
