Employees from VolkerFitzpatrick recently took part in this year's CARE Construction Challenge, which sees professionals from the construction and property industry compete in a 26.2 mile marathon on foot, bike and kayak.
The challenge, which took place around Wimbleball Lake, Somerset, saw teams complete an 11 mile run through forest terrain, a 14 mile mountain bike route across heathland and cliff tops and a 1.2 mile kayak relay across the lake.
As well as competing physically, teams also completed additional mental challenges at various locations around the course, which were based on CARE's emergency response work.
More than 35 teams competed throughout the day with VolkerFitzpatrick finishing in 10th place, having completed the challenge in five hours 11 minutes.
Tom Gardom, quantity surveyor at VolkerFitzpatrick, who took part in the challenge, said: "It was a great day. The challenge was tough but the support we received on the day from both spectators and other competing teams helped us through. CARE international is a great charity and we're proud to have raised over £1,200 and our team has already signed up to take part in next year's event."
CARE Challenge manager Neil Munro summarised: "It was the biggest and best CARE Construction Challenge to date. The weather was gorgeous and team spirit was sky high. Huge thanks go to all the teams who took part, making it a fun competition and raising a fantastic sum."
Richard Offord, managing director at VolkerFitzpatrick commented: "Congratulations to all those who took part in the challenge, this is a great way for the industry to get together and achieve something not only as a team, but as a collective, for a great cause."
