Borneo

All Raleigh International expeditions in Borneo operate from Sabah, on the north of the island.

Borneo

Projects the volunteers undertake here focus on building strong, resilient communities; providing access to safe water and sanitation and protecting the incredible biodiversity in the area.

Borneo is home to one of the world’s oldest rainforests and some of the rarest and most diverse species on the planet.

Sabah is famously known for its biodiversity, being home to all sorts of weird and wonderful wildlife and plants found nowhere else in the world. However it is its rich mix of cultures, people and history that Sabah has most to shout about. Over 30 different tribes live in Sabah speaking over 80 different dialects.

The projects undertaken are in some of the most remote and poorest areas of Sabah. Some examples of the projects the VolkerFitzpatrick volunteers may be working include building a kindergarten, installing gravity fed water systems as well as enviormental projects in Imbak Canyon and Danum Valley.
