The train maintenance facility being built in Stoke Gifford, near Bristol for Hitachi Rail Europe as part of the InterCity Express Programme (IEP) has been shortlisted in the Project of the Year (over £50m) category.

The project on the M1 at Junction 10a for Luton Borough Council to improve the road layout and journey times for travellers has been shortlisted in the Project of the Year (£10m - £30m) category.

The shortlisted teams will present their submissions to a panel of industry judges before the winners are announced at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London on 14 July 2016.

Richard Offord, managing director of VolkerFitzpatrick said: “We are delighted that two of our major projects over the past year have been rewarded with recognition in the Construction News Awards 2016.

“Both project teams are a testament to the benefits of collaborative working with not only the client but also the communities surrounding the sites. We wish the teams the best of luck as they prepare for their next round of judging.”

This year the Construction News Awards are celebrating 20 years of the very best contractors in the UK.
