Our Health and Safety Policy is a declaration of commitment to establish and maintain safe systems of work and a safe and healthy working environment.
Our health and safety system is third party accredited to the International Standards of OHSAS 18001:2007 and is constantly reviewed and monitored to effect improvements.
Our high standards are maintained by continually monitoring compliance and benchmarking performance through an established audit and inspection regime, undertaken by both external parties and our own team of safety, health and environmental professionals. All findings are reviewed at the highest level and where necessary changes are made to provide continual improvement
As part of VolkerFitzpatrick's unrelenting commitment to continuously improve the health, safety and well-being of our people, subcontractors and supply chain partners we have implemented a holistic behavioural change programme called PALS (Plan, Attitude, Lead, Share).
Our PALS campaign is delivered by our 70 in-house and supply chain coaches coaches and focuses on individuals making the right choices. The culture behind the programme is that we Plan before we start work, have the right Attitude, Lead by example and Share to help others get it right. In simple terms we want everyone to look after their ‘P.A.L.S'.
In 2015 our coaches briefed an average of 2,100 personnel per quarter and we have seen significant reductions in the number and severity of accidents on our projects.
We are committed to providing the best possible conditions where works are carried out safely with high levels of welfare and care for all workers on site. We expect and encourage co-operation from our entire workforce in creating a better, safer and more responsible culture on site. We aim to change the way people regard health and safety in work and in everyday life - making the PALS culture integral to the way we operate is a long term commitment.
